Le modèle original pèse environ 1420 grammes mais à la demande du client, j’ai ramené ce poids à moins de 1200 grammes tout en gardant les proportions d’origines.

La lame en profil de losange possède une bonne rigidité.

La garde droite est à section hexagonale. Les quillons reviennent en direction de la pointe de la lame. Cet exemple de garde est typique de ce qu’on retrouve à Castillon.

La fusée est en chêne recouvert de cuir bouilli.

Le pommeau à roue possède des pans concaves. Le moyeu central est creusé à chaud, poncer et poli à lain. Une rosette permet le rivetage de la soie au sommet du pommeau.

La lame, la garde et le pommeau sont entièrement forgés.

L'ensemble est poli en long à la main.

It is a model inspired by a sword found at Castillon la Bataille.
This sword belongs to the Type XV. The original weighs about 1420 grams but at the request of the customer, I have reduced this weight to less than 1200 grams while keeping the proportions of original. A little challenge when you know the characteristics of these swords.

The diamond profile blade has good rigidity.

The straight guard is hexagonal in section. The quillons return in the direction of the tip of the blade. This example of guard is typical of what is found in Castillon.

The handle is in oak covered with boiled leather glued with gelatin.

The wheel pommel has concave sides. The central hub is excavated with forge tools and polished with the thumb (emery cloth more and more fine)! Lots of patience for this job.
The top of the pommel is finished with a pinblock.

The blade, the guard and the pommel are entirely forged.

The whole is polished by hand.
